Ruger Mini 14 Side Folder

Ruger Mini 14 Side Folder ($1,849)

While Ruger’s Mini 14 never really hit its stride in the mainstream firearm market, it continues to be revered by a growing segment of the market searching for something other than an AR15. The Mini 14 is a good alternative that seemingly blends slightly modern, desirable feature sets with traditional wood furniture—in this case, Walnut.

New-for-2024 in the Mini 14 Tactical lineup is the side-folding version, which features a stainless-steel folding buttstock. However, this isn’t necessarily a “new” model, as it was in the lineup decades ago. Interestingly, the stock is built using the original tooling. The Mini 14 utilizes a simple yet rugged Garand-style action with a breech locking system, a fixed-piston gas system, and a self-cleaning gas cylinder, offering reliability in less-than-ideal operating conditions. A suppressor or your choice or muzzle device are easily added to the Mini 14 thanks to muzzle threads on its 18.50-inch cold-hammer forged barrel. An integral scope mount is machined directly into the solid steel receiver, providing a solid surface for the included scope rings. We definitely appreciate the modernized look the folding stock provides the platform, which we expect will expand the desirability of the platform in general.
