The trigger guard is undercut and beveled, allowing you to choke up on the grip with your firing hand, bringing the tang of your hand tight beneath its enhanced beavertail. Undercutting allows your firing hand to be more in line with the slide as it reciprocates, reducing felt recoil and allowing you to more accurately track your sights or dot. Thanks to these mods, the pistol barely moved when launching SIG’s 147-grain Match Elite ammunition, yet produced a best five-shot group of 1.1-inches and an average of five-five shot groups of just 1.3-inches at shot at the 25-yard line. 115-grain Winchester whitebox matched those results, but with a touch more muzzle rise.
While the new XFive Legion might not be the ideal concealed carry rig, it is a race car for those requiring the ultimate in speed and accuracy. Shooting the XFive Legion was a pleasure and validates the modifications that SIG made to create this unique P320. The extra weight of the new tungsten-infused grip, the lightened slide and slick trigger made it wicked fast on plate racks and dominated speed drills. The 5-inch bull barrel squeaks all the speed that can be had out of a 9mm, and if you’re an iron sight shooter, the longer sight radius adds to the accuracy potential of this platform. Otherwise, slap a red dot on the slide and join us in the 21st century. See the new XFive Legion at your dealer, or for more information contact SIG Sauer; Tel.: (603) 610-3000; Web: sigsauer.com
