Pointer Phenoma .410 Semi-Auto Shotgun

The new Phenoma POINTER .410-guage semi-auto shotgun, offered by Legacy Sports, is a great training tool for young shooters, especially those learning to shoot clays at short ranges, and is a popular gauge among sporting clays shooters looking to compete in all four gauge classes. The .410’s utility as a hunting shotgun is limited by its low shot weight, but with 3-inch shells it steps up closer to 28-gauge performance.

The Phenoma POINTER chambers both. Perceived recoil with either is next to nothing. It’s light, fast swing makes it suited to hunting dove, quail, grouse, rabbit and squirrel at short range. Turkey hunters looking for a challenge with sub-gauge shotguns will appreciate it when using the new .410 Federal TSS turkey ammo that purportedly can down gobblers at 50 yards. Available in a variety of models, from a black synthetic option to a Turkish walnut version, plus Mossy Oak Bottomland and Realtree Original camo finishes, which are the choice of turkey hunters.

Retail pricing starts at $529. It comes standard with five extended choke tubes—unusual for .410s, which usually have only fixed chokes—along with fiber optic front sights, super-reliable gas operating system, single-round magazine cut off, Duratouch finish and a raised vent rib. All are compatible with Beretta/Benelli Mobil Style choke tubes. It features a chrome lined, 28-inch barrel, rubber butt pad, textured grip and forearm and a length of pull of 14-inches. Weight and other dimensions were not available at press time.
