Springfield Armory has just introduced its new 1911 EMP 4-inch Lightweight Champion 9mm. Springfield Armory engineered the original EMP with its then-new, patented short action a number of years ago, and now seventeen redesigned parts later comes the new 4-inch Lightweight Champion. One of its main differences is a longer, 4-inch, Match grade stainless steel bull barrel with fully supported ramp for increased sight radius and higher velocity. Other features include 6-grove rifling at a 1:16” twist rate, forged satin finished stainless steel slide, black hard-coat anodized forged aluminum frame, skeletonized hammer spur, grip safety with extension bump low-profile, 3-dot steel sights with fiber-optic front and three 1-round magazines. Dimensions are 7.5” L x 1.15” W x 5.5” H, and empty weight is 31.0 oz. Pricing was not available at press time.
