We’ve been extremely impressed with the craftsmanship of Steel Will blades, and the new Adept 1010 knife ($299.99)—a universal military knife designed to deal with any task or threat the modern-day soldier may encounter—may be our favorite yet. It’s hard-hitting, America-style Tanto-tipped blade has excellent penetrating capability. The 5.91-inch long blade is made from strong N690Co steel hardened to 58 to 60 on the Rockwell C scale. N690Co is an Austrian steel often compared favorably against 440C, with equal or better wear resistance and toughness.
The blade is coated with a black, anti-reflective, PVD (Physical Vapor Deposition) coated to provide excellent resistance to wear and corrosion. The coating material is vaporized at a high temperature and then coated onto the blade in the process of condensation. The handles are machined from non-flammable, non-conductive, moisture resistant G10 glass fiber laminate that will last a lifetime of hard use. Blade thickness is a full 0.2”, overall length is 11.34” and it weighs 10.7 oz. The Adept 1010 comes with a Kydex sheath with belt loop, MOLLE mounting harness and variety of accessories for other mounting options. All-in-all, a very serious knife system for those who need it.
