Polaris ACE 570 SP

Initially introducd in a 325-CC, 32-H.P. offering for 2014, 2015 buyers were presented with the option of upgrading to the proven, reliable and more powerful 45-H.P. 570-CC electronic-fuel-injected mill that’s powering the SP model you see here. As of this writing, Polaris had just introduced it’s 2016 lineup, and among them were several new offerings in the ACE category—including an even more powerful 60-H.P. 900cc version.

Throughout testing, the recessed-rear cargo area never left us wanting for more space than any one person needed for gear. Depending on what we were doing, we’ve packed everything from climbing treestand’s to large coolers and gear bag’s back there without issue. If you need a more-customized storage area, Polaris offers a ton of Lock-n-Ride accessories to ensure all your gear requirements are squared away.

For the average enthusiast, the 570 will provide more than enough grunt to get you where you need to go, but the 900 will, undoubtedly, get you there a bit quicker.

Regardless of the engine size, however—and like all other Polaris 4×4 machines—the ACE lineup is equipped with what we consider to be the best four-wheel-drive system currently offered—Polaris’ On-Demand All Wheel Drive. When toggled from two to four-wheel-drive, the machine will remain in two-wheel-drive until it senses tire slippage. At that moment it will instantaneously and seamlessly engage the front drive wheels and provide true all-wheel-drive traction. It works like magic, and because of it, in our experience these machines are some of the best (if not the best) for working technical, challenging and/or downright harsh sections of trail.

Continuing to blur the lines even further are the ACE’s hybrid front and rear storage solutions, which are half-UTV and half-ATV in their configurations. Out back is a large Lock-n-Ride compatible, recessed cargo platform (much like the company’s RZR line, only smaller), and up front, a weather-tight cargo compartment sealed by a cargo-platform lid. All told, the ACE is capable of carrying 360 pounds of gear (or wild-game meat if you happen to get lucky.)

Up front you’ll find a dual-purpose cargo solution, offering watertight storage within its sealed compartment, and a platform atop its lid to secure additional gear. Dual 50-watt headlights do an adequate job of lighting the way after dark. As far as aftermarket accessories are concerned, Polaris has ACE owners covered with bumpers, winches, auxiliary lighting, cargo containers and about everything else the hunter and outdoorsman would ever need to equip their machine with.

With Polaris giving birth to this new genre of machines, hunters and outdoorsman now have an extremely viable backcountry-exploration option that fills some very unique requirements.
