The new Hunter 700 rifle stock ($259.95) from Magpul was designed as a direct replacement for the factory stock on the Remington 700 short-action rifles with hinged floorplates and right-hand receivers. Made from rugged, weatherproof, reinforced polymer, it features a Type III hard anodized, machine finished, A380 cast aluminum V-bedding block for the ultimate in repeatable accuracy.
This true “drop in,” full-length replacement stock also features M-LOK slots on both sides and the bottom of the forend for attachment of a wide range of M-LOK compatible accessories. The stock also has a rubber butt pad, three dimpled drill points for attachment of standard sling swivel dome studs, and two QD sling swivel receptacles and two Footman’s Loops on each side of the butt end.
The Hunter 700 rifle stock has a Tapered Beam design that provides good rigidity through the entire length of the forend, and free-floats all factory Remington barrels, including aftermarket profiles up to a Medium Palma (0.920″ diameter 5.50″ forward of the breech). Four half-inch spacers provide length of pull adjustment from 13.0” to 15.0”. The unpadded, 0.25” polymer comb is removable and can be replaced with optional 0.50” and 0.75” raised combs by purchasing the optional Hi Cheek Riser Kit ($15.95).
It will accept factory Remington hinged bottom metal or the optional Magpul Bolt Action Magazine Well that comes with one Magpul PMAG 5 7.62 AC detachable box magazine ($69.95). Available stock colors include black, flat dark earth, stealth gray and OD green…look for an in-depth review in On Target’s next issue.
