For reliability testing we mounted a Trijicon 3×30 Compact ACOG with green illuminated .300 Blackout reticle ($1,470) on the receiver top rail. Testing ammunition consisted of Hornady 110-gr. V-Max (2,375 f.p.s./1,377 ft. lbs.), and SIG SAUER Elite Performance 125-gr. Sierra Match King (2,200 f.p.s./1,343 ft. lbs.). In rapid fire testing on our Salute Products steel-plate targets, the OPR-15 ran 100%, with no failures of any kind. The 3×30 Compact ACOG was the perfect optic for this fast-paced testing at ranges from 25 to 50 yards.
For accuracy testing from the bench at 100 yards, with replaced the ACOG with a Nightforce SHV 4-14x56mm riflescope ($975 to $1,171 depending on reticle). The OPR-15’s Geissele trigger was a huge benefit in shooting tight groups, as every break came as a surprise. The best 5-shot group with the Hornady 110-gr. V-Max measured 1.05” center to center (average group size was 1.19”), while the SIG SAUER fodder turned in a best 5-shot group of 1.35”, and an average group size of 1.54”. Groups sizes were very consistent with both brands of ammo.
